Walking Anglesey
The Isle of Anglesey, at the tip of North Wales, provides dramatic landscapes which can be experienced from walking the stunning Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. 95% of it's 125 mile circular route
has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the long term goal is to get a National Trail Status..

The island offers some of the most varied and important wildlife habitats in the whole of the British Isles. It is a birdwatcher's paradise attracting puffins, terns, cormorants, guillemots and many varieties of wildfowl and wading birds. Also, due to the milder climate, it is abundant in wild flowers.
The WALKS follow the island's coastline, which is dramatic and diverse. Three of them pass through nature reserves - Newborough Warren, Cemlyn Nature Reserve, near Cemaes, and Penrhos, Holyhead, while some pass through significant historic and prehisotrical landmarks.
Anglesey has over 70 designated sites of archaelogical interest. Standing stones and burial chambers are scattered across the island. Along the walks, remains of iron age forts, holy wells, churches, brickworks are still to be seen.
Geologists love the Isle of Anglesey. The island is like the world on a pocket handkerchief. It has the greatest variety of rocks, in type and age, than anywhere else in the world. Parys Mountain Copper Mine is only a short distance from one of the walks.
On many of the routes you could opt for a shorter walk and spend more time sight seeing.
There is a stately home, many museums, visitors’ centres, lighthouses, historic sites, riding centres, working farms open to the public, and our very own Sea Zoo, all just off the daily walks.
On the other hand, the Isle of Anglesey is a wonderful place to chill. The beaches are safe, clean and ideal for children of all ages. All are different in character, magnificent in their own way. As one American tourist said “The Isle of Anglesey is just one big, beautiful beach”.
The Isle of Anglesey boasts Blue Flag Beaches at Llanddwyn, Benllech, Llanddona, Trearddur Bay, Porth Dafarch, Porth Swtan (Church Bay) and Aberffraw with many other Yellow Flag beaches.
